we’ve made little secret of our affection for analog synthesizers. i’m not really sure where it came from; for me it was from being a little tired of guitars. for everyone else, i think it was because they like turning knobs. we’ve been through several iterations of analog — first, fake analog (alesis micron) then simple analog (realistic mg-1 — a moog synth sold by radioshack in the early 80s) to our current moog voyager, which is ostensibly the bmw of analog synths. for some reason, piling on the analog synths, especially in the studio, always brings the inevitable rick wakeman comment, which does consistently bring laughter — guys who like synthesizers are pretty funny right? well, i learned tonight, that entering ’synthesizer’ into youtube, brings you into a whole new world of rick wakeman. and it is no laughing matter…
